The Land That Has Always Been Mine
14-07-2023, Nino van der Stoop
My mind, my only companion, and I’m going way back,
For to find a piece of advice a wise man gave me,
For times like these when I’m whirling in the dust.
“Find an actual path, feel your feet on the ground, and start walking, walking.”
There are so many things I don’t know,
There are so many desires in my way,
There are so many chains that carry my name,
So many choices, fading away.
Walking ‘til I can go no more,
I need to stand still.
I look around for the first time –
And see the sunset sun, beaming everything to me,
And presenting a piece of the land that has always been mine.
The land so gorgeous where birds are flying towards,
The land so peaceful where shepherds come to rest,
The land so spacious for the dogs to go and play,
The land so hidden from the ones who hide their souls,
And I’ll sit beside them under the tree that gives life and a home.
‘Who am I, man… Who am I.’
